From January 26-28, 2006, the international confernce "Voices of Tangier" will be held in Tangier. Organized by Khalid Amine, Andrew Hussey and Barry Tharaud the aim of the event is "is to interrogate all aspects of Tangier's hybrid cultures from a trans-historical and post-colonial point of view. Two key questions are asked: What do we hear in Tangier? And why? A larger and more complicated question to be addressed by the conference is what meaning does this cultural polyphony have in the context of present-day cultural conflicts?"
